Transfer vinyl stickers
If you’re making a decal with complex shapes or lettering that needs to be placed precisely, you’ll need a special kind of tape called transfer tape. The tape is placed over the entire sticker design and it holds the individual pieces of your design together until you can remove it from the paper backing.
The Tape Is Often White or Clear
There are many different kinds of transfer tape available, including white, clear, and colored, but they all have the same basic function. They allow you to easily transfer your stickers from the paper backing to your final project.

Once you’ve cut and weeded your design, it’s time to transfer the graphics to the substrate they will ultimately be placed on. The process of applying the tape is as simple as using a scraper, burnishing tool, or the side of a credit card to press the tape onto the vinyl and then peel it up.
You’ll need to leave the tape on for at least 3 hours and up to 24 hours before removing it. The longer the tape is on the material, the more evenly it will stick to it.
When you’re finished, simply wipe away any remaining dirt or debris on the surface where you’re placing the decal. This will help prevent wrinkles or air bubbles in the finished product.
There are also a few tips and tricks for applying transfer stickers that can make the process easier. First, pre-wash the surface where you’ll be applying the sticker with soap and water or a mixture of rubbing alcohol and water (a 50/50 mix). This will help to remove any dust or debris that may be preventing the stickers from sticking properly.
